Writer, Artist, Drag QueeenJoe Wadlington is a San Francisco-based writer, artist, and drag queen. His writing has been published in The New Yorker, Food & Wine Magazine, Architectural Digest, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Rumpus, Vox, and elsewhere.
He holds a Master’s in Creative Writing: Fiction from San Francisco State and a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing from Butler University. He’s published short stories, essays, and satire; written critically acclaimed plays; and currently has a young adult manuscript under submission.
Wadlington is half the production team for monthly literary show “Happy Endings” and annual one-act play festival “Play Space.” Both events are part of Wadlington’s mission to support and showcase Bay Area writing and theatrical talent and build San Francisco’s culture.
As the hillbilly drag queen “Jubilee”, Wadlington has starred in full-length, sold-out plays at the legendary Oasis nightclub; produced and hosted weekly drag shows; lost multiple pageants; and hosted corporate events at Apple, Google, Dropbox, Strava, and Discord others.
We was born and raised in the Great Smoky Mountains of Eastern Tennessee but now lives in San Francisco.
